1. It Has Been Clinically Proven To Be Disastrous
Evidence from psychology suggests that a pattern of separations and reconciliations is toxic to both relationship and personal well-being. The more frequently couples cycle back and forth between being together and being apart, the more their relationships tend to deteriorate to involve negative interactions, less satisfaction, and less commitment.
2. It Makes You More Vulnerable
People involved in on-again/off-again relationships have conflicting emotions when it comes to their relationship decisions. They might care about the other person, but the relationship ends up hurting them. Instead of deciding at once to put an end to things, they give into their partner’s reassurances of changing their behavior and participate in a reunion that again leads to disappointment and ends up hurting them, once again.

3. You Cannot Rationalize Bad Behavior
There are some characteristics of your partner that can be worked upon. However, there are some that you just can’t compromise on. If this person is a serial cheater, or consumes drugs, or is involved in anything fundamentally incorrect, you shouldn’t give them a second chance. If there’s something about this person that upsets you, no matter how beautiful your relationship is, you should make a firm resolve to never get back to them.
4. Don’t Get Addicted To The Adrenaline Rush That Comes With It
One woman recently confided in the author that she loves on-off relationships just for the thrill that comes with it. She found normal relationships boring, and constantly designed fights with her partner just to feel the intense highs and lows in her relationships. This type of behavior is not just self destructive, but can also wreak havoc to the other partner’s feelings. If there are set reasons why you and your partner break up continuously, then there rare high chances that the circumstances will not change, and you need to put an end to things.
5. You Cannot Put Up With A Bad Relationship Just Because You Are Used To Them
Comfort can be kryptonite when it comes to on-and-off relationships. Many of us have stayed in or returned to toxic relationships simply because they are familiar and preferable to being alone. However, it is time to understand that you can always get a better, more deserving partner. Anyone can find a more compatible person if they wish to. Never fool yourself into believing that this relationship is the best thing that could have happened to you. Another word of advice: A lot of people waste time thinking that they can stay friends after a breakup, however the best way to move out of an On-Off Relationship is to strictly cut off all communication.
